To say that this MGB has undergone a full restoration is an understatement, over the past two and a half years this car has been through a meticulous rebuild with no expense spared. This really is a superb car and has been rebuilt to a far better standard than original and to top it all it is fitted with an automatic gearbox which was a very rare option (apparently there were only 400 automatic Roadsters ever made). This car must be seen to be believed, the gentleman that took on this incredible project is very particular about his work and you will be very hard pushed to find a car rebuilt to this standard. We have over 850 photographs of the rebuild which can be sent on a USB drive if requested.
The bodywork was completely stripped and soda blasted back to bare metal and a lot of the body panels have been replaced with new ones (doors, boot lid and front wings), a new floor has been fitted due to a small amount of rust and the car has been completely repainted in Glacier White. All of the chrome work on the car has either been re chromed or replaced with new. The windscreen has been replaced with a new heated windscreen. All new door glasses, quarter lights, door seals and locks have also been fitted.
The interior has had a new set of seats and has been completely retrimmed in red leather with new red carpets and boot carpets, the roof has been replaced with a custom red roof with matching tonneau cover and hood cover. The boot floor has been modified to have the same layout as an MGB-GT with the spare wheel etc stored under a divide that is held up by hydraulic lifts. The dash has been refurbished and re covered in walnut effect trim with a retro style modern radio that has an AM/FM radio, CD player, Bluetooth and USB inputs. New twin 6v batteries too.
The engine bay is just a good as the bodywork of the car, it has been refurbished and repainted with mostly new components and a completely new wiring loom. The engine and gearbox were removed and given a total overhaul, the engine has had an unleaded conversion, new camshaft, new rocker assembly, oil pump, piston rings, heater valve, oil cooler, radiator, fuel lines, fuel pump and carbs as well as a new alternator and starter motor. The gearbox was overhauled and serviced by Hardy’s Gearbox Specialists Leatherhead and has also had a new torque convertor fitted.
The old suspension has been replaced with new Spax adjustable shocks with new springs. New brake pads, discs, callipers, brake pipes and hoses, master cylinder and servo have all been fitted. The axles, differential and subframe have all been refurbished and powder coated, and the underside of the car has been resealed and painted in Glacier White. The car has also had an electric power steering kit fitted which makes the driving experience so much better. A brand-new set of chrome wire wheels have been fitted (including the spare) along with a brand-new set of tyres.
